Job Title: Administrative Clerk: Reporting to Manager, Customer Service & Underwriting
(Permanent Full-Time)

The Lawyers’ Professional Indemnity company is a Toronto-based, professional liability insurer with a mandate to provide quality insurance services to our insured lawyers. As part of achieving our mandate, we are currently recruiting for an Administrative Clerk.

The Administrative Clerk reports to the Manager, Underwriting and Customer Service Department and will provide administrative support to the Manager, Assistant Manager and Program Coordinators in the Department. This role will be responsible for, but not limited to, responding to inquiries from lawyers and law firm administrators (both via telephone and in writing), operating electronic mail systems, maintaining databases, running reports and creating action items, scanning and photocopying.

Job Location: Downtown Toronto

The ideal candidate should:

  • Have formal training in administrative skills, with a Community College/University graduate preferred;
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years experience working in an administrative role;
  • Have experience in dealing with professionals both by telephone and in writing;
  • Have good knowledge of all Microsoft office software with a minimum intermediate skill level in Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Have excellent knowledge of Lotus Notes;
  • Have excellent time management and organizational skills;
  • Have experience working in a team environment with many deadlines and a high volume of work;
  • Be proactive in her/his approach to work, with the ability to set priorities independently;
  • Have the ability to juggle multiple high priorities simultaneously;

Job Title: Corporate Administrative Coordinator: Reporting to Manager Corporate Secretariat & Services
(Full-Time Permanent)

The Corporate Administrative Coordinator reports to the Manager, Corporate Secretariat & Services and will provide administrative support to the Office of the President, the Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel. This role will be responsible for, but not limited to, filing, operating electronic diary systems, arranging meetings, sorting mail, updating and maintaining databases, scanning, photocopying/collating, producing accessible electronic documents (AODA) and/or uploading meeting materials for distribution. This position will also be required to support event management and arrange travel from time to time. The successful candidate will be a flexible team player with a highly professional demeanour who demonstrates initiative and wants to contribute in a results-oriented fashion towards the efficient operations of the department and LAWPRO more broadly. It is essential that the successful candidate be very detail-oriented, organized and able to complete workflow processes accurately.

The ideal candidate should:

Job Title: HR Director: Reporting to President & CEO
(Permanent Full-Time)

We are seeking an HR Director to oversee all of the HR functions of our organization. This position reports directly to the CEO and also has a role in reporting to and supporting the Governance Committee of the Board of Directors, as well as being a member of the company Pension Committee. The Director oversees a team of HR and administrative professionals and is responsible for HR strategy, policies, and processes, plus certain corporate administrative functions. A strong knowledge of legal and compliance principles with regard to human resources is essential in our highly regulated financial company. This role will operate at a strategic level, but the Director will also be hands-on in working with the HR staff and/or troubleshooting.

Job Location: Toronto

The ideal candidate should:

  • Have relevant undergraduate and graduate education;
  • Have work experience in a professional, financial, or legal environment;
  • Have worked in an environment where there were frequent interactions with Executives and Board members;
  • Be able to provide strategic leadership in HR;
  • Have experience in HR Policy development and interpretation, overseeing benefits plans including negotiations with carriers, and providing advice on legal issues and employment legislation;
  • Have experience in HR compliance and a proven aptitude for establishing and maintaining HR processes in a regulated environment; this would include, for example, oversight of the work of the department in pension administration, records management, and payroll processes;
  • Have experience in compensation management and/or working with compensation consultants;
  • Have hands-on experience in recruitment;
  • Have experience in HRIS technology planning and implementation;
  • Have excellent writing skills and the ability to produce reports, including for the Governance Committee of the Board of Directors; also the ability to draft and/or review offer letters, termination letters, and other complex documents; and
  • Have management experience leading a team of professionals and administrative staff.

The role of the Program Coordinator is to provide written and verbal information on the insurance program to the members of the legal profession. The information the Program Coordinator provides includes: information concerning insurance coverages for the lawyer, account information on premiums, and information on additional programs such as risk management. The successful candidate will be proficient in French and English, and will receive intensive training about the program and the Company before answering any calls from the public.

  • Have at least 2 years experience providing customer service in a call centre environment;
  • Be bilingual in both English and French;
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Have experience in Microsoft Word and Excel;

Job Title: Senior Security Specialist: Reporting to Chief Information Officer
(Permanent, Full-Time)

LAWPRO has an immediate opening for an Senior Security Specialist. Reporting to the CIO, the successful applicant in this new, permanent role will be responsible for helping to develop a dedicated IT security practice at the company.

Key Responsibilities:

-maintain an information security governance framework, including:

-define and document approved and effective governance processes

-establish and maintain information security policies and standards

-support business functions in security policy implementation

-implement and monitor of security compliance tools and processes

-provide executive management a view of the information security risk posture and profile recommending areas of focus based on current and emerging threats

-establish priorities and long term objectives on the basis of information security risk

-develop and implement strategies to reduce the overall risk exposure of the company,in line with our corporate risk appetite

-maintain and test corporate security awareness programs and security incident management plans and processes

-stay up to date on trends and issues and communicate to leadership security issues and recommendations in clear business terms

-partner with departmental management to ensure business needs are met from a security perspective without compromising the company's security requirements

-partner with general counsel to establish appropriate information security terms and conditions to be included within third party contracts

-perform information risk assessments to identify and communicate security risks

-perform an advisory role in application development or acquisition projects to assess and audit security requirements and controls

-develop and validate baseline security configurations for operating systems, applications, and networking and telecommunications equipment

-perform control and compliance and vulnerability assessments (inclusive of third parties) to identify, assess, and remediate potential control weaknesses

-work with internal and external auditors to assess security controls

The ideal candidate should:

  • have a minimum of six years working in the security technology field
  • have a track record of success in developing and implementing IT security risk practices
  • have a post-secondary diploma/degree in have a relevant field
  • current security accreditation (e.g., CISSP, CISM or GSEC)
  • have a deep understanding of information security standards, frameworks, and best practices (e.g., ISO 27000, ITIL, CoBIT, SANS, etc.)
  • have a demonstrated ability and passion to learn new technologies

Summary

The TitlePLUS® Consultant reports to the Sales Manager and will be responsible for developing, servicing and growing a title insurance sales territory of TitlePLUS® subscribed lawyers and their office staff. Achieving success will include maximizing the growth potential of the assigned field to meet sales objectives, developing strong client relationships, and collaborating with other team members to deliver a customer experience that drives satisfaction and loyalty.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Meet sales objectives and targets within assigned territory

• Grow and service both new and existing customer relationships with the intent of delivering new business opportunities and increased policy sales

• Regularly prospect to generate new leads to assist in meeting individual sales goals

• Develop sales plans that identify opportunities and challenges from which strategies are then established

• Promote initiatives undertaken by the TitlePLUS program;

• Be customer focused, providing support, guidance and problem resolution when needed

• Develop an in depth understanding of the competitive market and align sales strategies accordingly

• Effectively plan and manage time to maximize key sales opportunities

• Coordinate and conduct training on TitlePLUS® products and software

The ideal candidate should:

  • Have knowledge of conveyancing, the procedures and workflow of a real estate law practice and title insurance
  • Have a university degree or a Law Clerk designation
  • Have a minimum two years of selling experience with proven abilities in prospecting and business growth
  • Have the ability to develop and sustain long term productive client relationships
  • Possess strong customer service skills that include building rapport, identifying needs and problem resolution
  • Have excellent presentation skills
  • Have the ability to work independently and manage time
  • Be a team focused individual who is driven, service oriented, takes initiative and possesses strong communication skills
  • Have a high degree of computer literacy
  • A Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle are required
  • Have the ability to work flexible hours and travel as required
