LAWPRO's CLE premium credit reduces lawyers' insurance premiums up to $100
TORONTO, ON, April 17, 2002: To encourage lawyers to participate in Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs that include risk management content, Lawyers Professional Indemnity Company (LAWPRO) will reduce insurance premiums by up to $100 for lawyers who attend specific CLE programs.
LAWPRO believes it is critical for its lawyers to incorporate risk management strategies into their practices, and that the use of risk management tools and strategies will help to reduce claims. To that end, LAWPRO will offer a $50 premium credit (to a maximum of $100 per lawyer) for every LAWPRO-approved CLE program lawyers attend by September 15, 2002.
To receive this credit, lawyers should:
- take an LAWPRO-approved CLE program*; or attend a video replay of a qualifying program; and
- complete the Declaration.
Promotional literature for qualifying programs will carry the LAWPRO "seal" of approval.

This initiative is an expansion of the Online Coaching Centre (OCC) premium credit, which provided a $50 credit to lawyers who completed at least three modules in the online-self-coaching tool. More than 1,900 lawyers took advantage of this opportunity in 2001. Use of the OCC will continue to qualify for one of the $50 premium credits. However, lawyers must complete three new modules before the September deadline.
LAWPRO is a Toronto-based company that is licensed to provide lawyers' professional liability insurance and title insurance in numerous jurisdictions across Canada. It currently provides Ontario's 18,000 practising lawyers and the 450 members of the Newfoundland and Labrador bar with comprehensive liability insurance programs. TitlePLUS, LAWPRO's title insurance product, is used widely by real estate practitioners in Ontario, and is now available in Atlantic Canada.
* Speakers at qualified programs are also eligible for the credit.
