TitlePLUS® announces new streamlined premiums

Toronto, ON, January 23, 2002: TitlePLUS has introduced a new streamlined premium structure that reflects its increased focus on automated TitlePLUS delivery systems.

Under the new premium structure, lawyers using the web-based delivery systems that TitlePLUS launched in 2001 will pay the lowest total costs, as TitlePLUS passes along the savings to lawyers that they realize from processing policies ordered on the web.

Lawyers who have no computer access, or who prefer more personalized service, can select the TitlePLUS Dial-In program which allows lawyers to order TitlePLUS coverage for their transactions over the phone. The Dial-In program carries higher total premiums, reflecting the increased cost to TitlePLUS of providing this phone-in service.

A sample comparison of these two options would be as follows: the total cost, including taxes and processing fee, for a policy issued through the new website would be only $179.25, whereas the same policy issued via the TitlePLUS Dial-In service would cost $296.75. Full details of the new premium structure are available by clicking here.

The new premium structure supports TitlePLUS' plans to continue expanding its use of the web to deliver its policies. TitlePLUS recently launched two innovative, web-based initiatives: is a website which enables lawyers to order TitlePLUS title insurance coverage for a variety of mortgage-only transactions. As well, provides TitlePLUS title insurance coverage for new home and condominium development purchases. In early 2002, TitlePLUS announced it is available in all provinces of Atlantic Canada.

TitlePLUS is a comprehensive title insurance product, providing coverage for both the legal services provided by a lawyer, and the title-related issues in the real estate transaction. TitlePLUS was developed by the Lawyers' Professional Indemnity Company (LAWPRO), and has been used by more than 1,800 lawyers to streamline real estate transactions and improve the service and protection that home buyers receive. LAWPRO is a wholly Canadian-owned insurance company that is licenced to provide professional liability insurance and title insurance in numerous jurisdictions across Canada.
