LAWPRO releases 2012 Annual Report
On May 1st, 2013, LAWPRO held its Annual General Meeting and released its 2012 Annual Report, available here. The report includes the company's financial statements and Management Discussion and Analysis, including a report on operations for the 2012 year. The results and report are prefaced by remarks from both Susan T. McGrath, chair of the Board of Directors, and LAWPRO President and CEO Kathleen Waters.
Rating agency awards LAWPRO an A (Excellent) rating for 13th time
Leading rating agency A. M. Best Co. has awarded Lawyers' Professional Indemnity Company (LAWPRO) a financial strength rating of A (Excellent) and an issuer credit rating of "a." This marks the 13th consecutive time that LAWPRO has received this positive rating from A.M. Best Co.
In addition, A. M. Best Co. awarded LAWPRO a "stable" outlook for the second consecutive year, after upgrading its outlook report from negative to stable in 2012. More ...
Construction Impacts Access to LAWPRO
If you are planning a visit to LAWPRO, please be aware that Cadillac Fairview is renovating the Yonge Street entrance to our building. This will mean limited or no access to the lobby at 250 Yonge from that entrance until June 15, 2013. As an alternative, you can access the lobby from the entrance in the Eaton Centre, south of Sears (beside Roots).
Introducing the Law Society’s new Member Assistance Program (MAP)
The Law Society of Upper Canada has announced the introduction of a new assistance program for Ontario lawyers, law students, licensed paralegals,
and their families. The program, which is funded by the Law Society and LAWPRO, is operated independently by Homewood Human Solutions and provides
supportive services to lawyers and licensed paralegals experiencing a professional or personal crisis.
